Elena Grebeneva
Chief Executive Officer
Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs
To me, book projects have always been about far more than programmes, exhibition stands, meetings, or visitor numbers. They are about ideas, cultural memory, and the future of our society. Books remain one of the few spaces where people encounter not only a text, but also themselves, their history, and new ways of seeing the world.

Today, it is more important than ever to create platforms where literature is presented in ways that are contemporary, professional, and far-reaching—where authors, publishers, readers, libraries, regions, and international partners come together in a meaningful dialogue rather than existing in isolation. For the publishing industry, these projects become points of connection where new ideas, partnerships, voices, and opportunities for growth emerge.

I believe that by supporting books, we support far more than an industry. We strengthen society’s ability to think, to feel, to question, to understand, and to grow.

International Cooperation

The Directorate fosters international cooperation across the publishing industry by bringing international partners to Russia’s leading book events, promoting Russian literature and publishing projects worldwide, and facilitating professional dialogue among publishers, authors, literary agents, translators, and cultural institutions.

In 2026, the Directorate’s international programme is being further strengthened by the participation of the People’s Republic of China as the Guest of Honour at the 39th Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF), alongside the expansion of professional networking and business opportunities connecting Russian and international publishing communities.
